Help shape the future of ecological restoration in Europe. SER-Europe is looking for the host of SERE2028, and it could be your city.

Every two years, the European Conference on Ecological Restoration brings together the people advancing the recovery of Europe’s land, water, and biodiversity: scientists, practitioners, policymakers, and students, all in one place for a week of exchange and connection.

In 2022, it was Alicante. In 2024, Tartu. In 2026, the community heads to Brest. In 2028, it could be your city.

This is more than an invitation to organise an event. It is an opportunity to put your institution, your city, and your region’s restoration story on the European map, in true partnership with SER-Europe at every step.

A woman in a blue dress and yellow cardigan stands at a podium on a stage with a large green screen behind her that says "WELCOME! 14th EUROPEAN CONFERENCE ON SERE24 ECOLOGICAL RESTORATION 26-30.08.2024, TARTU, ESTONIA" with illustrations of nature and wildlife.

Why host SERE2028?

Put your region in the spotlight. Showcase your local restoration work to hundreds of leading voices from across Europe and beyond.

Partner, do not do it alone. SER-Europe works hand-in-hand with the host organisation on the scientific programme, communications, policy engagement, and fundraising, in a joint effort from day one.

Boost your institution’s profile. Strengthen ties with universities, agencies, NGOs, and companies active in restoration, while raising your visibility internationally.

Champion your local restoration story. Bring European attention to the landscapes, seascapes, rivers, forests, and people doing the work in your part of the continent.

Share in the rewards. Net proceeds from the conference are shared between SER-Europe and the host organisation, so your effort builds lasting value at home.

Could your city be next?

We are looking for a location with:

  • An inspiring venue ready to welcome a major international scientific conference
  • A motivated organising team, whether from a university, research institute, NGO, or a professional conference organiser
  • Good connections to the rest of Europe
  • A genuine, visible commitment to ecological restoration

If that sounds like your city, your institution, or your team, we want to hear from you.
