THE CONFERENCE DECLARATION · 28 AUGUST 2026
Investment in nature restoration is more urgent than ever
Inaction comes with a high cost.
Nature restoration is Europe’s most cost-effective resilience strategy.
Assembled in Brest, the scientific and professional community of the SER-Europe network issued a declaration demanding urgent action to tackle the climate and biodiversity crisis. It arrives as Member States prepare to submit their National Restoration Plans, the test case of political ambition under the Nature Restoration Regulation.
The declaration calls on governments and the European Commission to treat nature restoration as an investment, not a cost, and sets out what is needed to make it real.
An open invitation
The SER-Europe network of scientists, practitioners, and skilled professionals stands ready to assist Member States and the European Commission with the best available science and practical experience, in line with the SER International Principles and Standards for the Practice of Ecological Restoration.
