The European Chapter of the Society for Ecological Restoration is staffed by part-time contracted freelancers, project interns and volunteers who coordinate and communicate with the Executive Board, Board of Directors and the General Membership.

We are passionate about driving forward policy environment-positive policy making, effectively communicating and disseminating the latest groundbreaking research in ecosystem restoration practices, and networking experts, researchers and practitioners together.

Boris coordinates the daily operations of SER-Europe, with specific responsibility for fundraising and strategic development. He is also responsible for SER-Europe’s participation in LIFE-BCR, LIFE WoodMeadows and AlfaWetlands. He has 25 years of experience in conservation and the management of non-profit organisations.

MARINE RESTORATION PROJECT OFFICER

Sahar is responsible for SER-Europe’s participation in marine ecosystem restoration projects HEU REDRESS, Interreg NWE REBORN, and the co-ordination of the European Marine Restoration Working Group. She is working to convene global marine habitat restoration alliances to enable a coordinated, seascape approach to marine restoration. She is passionate about true and inclusive stakeholder engagement, ocean literacy and effective outreach.

EDUCATION AND TRAINING PROJECT OFFICER

Fátima D. Gigante

Fátima is responsible for SER-Europe’s activities as part of the TEAM#UP project. She also supports the Education & Training Working Group (ETWG) and the YOUNG#ER community. Fátima is passionate about designing and implementing hands-on capacity-strengthening programs, facilitating experiential learning, establishing support systems, and weaving networks for those at the forefront of restoration efforts.

MARKETING AND COMMUNICATIONS CONSULTANT

Elise Mackie

Elise’s role encompasses support of the organization’s digital presence, including website content, social media campaigns, and communications. Elise coordinates communications initiatives across multiple EU-funded restoration projects and event promotion, while supporting the organization’s digital infrastructure.
