The SER2025 Film Festival is now open for submissions and will be featured at the SER 2025 Global Conference in Denver, Colorado on Thursday, 2 October 2025. This event builds on the success of the inaugural film festival at SER2023 in Darwin and offers an inspiring platform to share stories of ecological restoration through film.

Submissions are open through June 2025, and we especially encourage students and practitioners in ecological restoration to participate.

🎥 Categories for Submission:

  • Students & Ecological Restoration Professionals: Short films under 5 minutes
  • Open Category & Established Filmmakers:
    • Short films (2–20 minutes)
    • Feature films (over 20 minutes)
  • Open Category – Weaving in Indigenous Perspectives: Films over 2 minutes

💰 Prizes:

  • Category Winners: $1000
  • Runners-Up: $250

🌍 Selected works will be screened at the festival, with finalists announced during the event and winners announced at the conclusion.

To help students develop submissions, SER has partnered with Formation Studios to create a free, self-paced online course designed to guide beginners through the filmmaking process. You can access the course here: SER Film Festival Online Course. Additionally, a webinar featuring two environmental filmmakers will be held in early May, with the recording available afterward via the festival portal.
